The Sonoma Film Festival

Film festivals tend to be high energy affairs with big gala celebrations, red carpets, and spectacular premeires. How about a festival that stimulates all of the senses. The Sonoma International Film Festival, held in the Northern California city of Sonoma does just that. The festival is billed as an event that celebrates the senses by presenting films along with the best in food, wine, music, and art. Set in the picturesque Sonoma Valley, the festival often pairs wine, food and new independent films from around the world. Guests also enjoy some great specialty events, luxurious parties, and casual mingling with top filmmakers and celebrities from around the world.

Sonoma's laid back atmosphere is perfect for a film festival. it's not uncommon to see top filmmakers casually mingling around at the screenings and events. Set in the heart of Northern California's wine country, you can expect lots of great food and drink from celebrity chefs and winemakers from the region. About 75 foreign and independent films are presented during the four days of the festival. The program consists of a smart collection of features, shorts, and documentaries. Instead of trophies, award winners at the festival receive special three liter bottles of wine especially paired for their presentation. At the 2009 gala celebration, Bruce Willis was presented with a Sonoma Film Festival lifetime achievement award. Ticket prices are affordable with day passes at about $60 each. The 13th annual Sonoma International Film Festival runs from April 14th to the 18th, 2010. Offseason the festival keeps the buzz going with a film series of independent films combined with a discussion and reception.
